Our Story

How it all started...

Years ago, the board of Christian Family Life (CFL) tasked Roland and Tammy Martinez to plant a church through CFL where they lived in North Carolina. As soon as the pandemic hit, Daniel and Gio Llerena felt a tug on their hearts in Tampa, Florida to explore what planting a church would look like during this crazy time. These two events, even being states apart, were happening simultaneously.

As God’s sovereignty would have it, the Llerena family moved up to North Carolina and engaged Roland as to what it would look like to start a home church. Obviously, Roland was already on board. So, on June 7th, 2020, Mazevo Church began gathering in the home. Despite not having much to start with, they obediently answered the call to model the Acts 2 church. Two years after the start-up, they decided as a core team to officially plant Mazevo church in Mooresville, North Carolina.

Expanding the vision...

In February of 2023, Mazevo Church decided to move out of the house and move into a church building a couple exits away. We knew the Lord was all over this partnership so we proceeded with confidence.

Then in September of 2023, we moved back to the Davidson area and into a coffee roasting house. As the Lord was quickly growing the Church body, we moved into our current location at the Ada Jenkins Center, where we are able to partner with the local community, college, and Church body of Mazevo throughout the week.

Where we are headed...

No matter how much we grow in numbers or wherever God may lead us, our heart remains the same: we are a community centered on the unchanging foundation of God's Word, Worship, Prayer, and Fellowship.

As we look to the future, we are committed to creating spaces where lives are transformed, relationships thrive, and Christ is glorified. Together, we will continue to seek Him, serve others, and share His love with our neighbors and the nations. Join us as we move forward in faith, keeping Christ at the center of all we do.
